the oculi HOUSE

STUDIO KOMA is honored to remodel this Mid-Century Modern architectural classic. Respecting the original spirit of the building, the project reinterprets it through a contemporary lens, not as a continuation of the design, but as a dialogue across time.

Originally designed in 1961 by architect Gordon Stice, this residence is a highly representative example of Mid-Century Modern architecture. Nestled among mature trees, the house achieves a delicate balance between modern elegance and natural serenity, embracing expansive views of the canyon and surrounding mountains to create a quiet and refined retreat within the city.

Drawing on Eastern aesthetics, the design strengthens the connections between spaces and gives each living vignette its own character. Restraint, negative space, and borrowed views let the landscape become part of every room. We look forward to seeing the house unfold once again through light, shadow, and structure.
